IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area is pleased to announce the honor of receipt of the Public Citizen of the Year Award from the National Association of Social Workers, Northwest Florida Unit. Additionally, IMPACT 100 has also been nominated for this same award on the state level.
The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the largest membership organization of professional social workers. NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies. The NASW established the Public Citizen of the Year Award to honor an outstanding member of the community (who is not a social worker) whose accomplishments exemplify the values and mission of professional social work. The award is presented on a local level as well as state level.
The award recipient criteria must fulfill the following criteria:
- Make a significant contribution to an area or population of concern to the social work profession such as at-risk or vulnerable populations, quality of life in communities, or social issues
- Act with courage
- Demonstrate outstanding leadership
- Exemplify social work values and ethics
According to Cyndi Warren, President of IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area, “I see this award as recognition of the entire IMPACT 100 membership fulfilling our mission: to know and serve the community. We are very grateful to NASW for this recognition.”
IMPACT 100 is an all-volunteer organization with 100% of membership dues used to fund grants in five focus areas – Arts & Culture, Family, Education, Health & Wellness, and Environment Recreation & Preservation.
