The Pace High School (PHS) Band was established in 1972, with the Pace Band Boosters forming in 1985 as a volunteer organization with a mission to support each member of the Pace High Band. As the Band expanded, the Boosters took on the responsibility of managing Varsity and Junior Varsity Concessions as the cornerstone of Band fundraising. Booster members devote hours to caring for students during intense practices and hot summer camps, chaperoning events, constructing show props, laundering uniforms and transporting equipment to performances. The Boosters are dedicated to supporting the operations, growth, and daily needs of one of the most successful high school music programs in Northwest Florida.  The Boosters support the robust band programs offered at Pace High School: Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensembles, Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Winter Guard Program, Solo & Ensemble events, and All-County Band performances as well as community projects such as the Pace Christmas Parade.

OVERVIEW OF THE PROPOSED PROJECT

Many instruments used by the PHS Band are long overdue for replacement. Though carefully maintained, up to 30 years of constant use and thousands of travel miles have taken their toll with judges noting the aging equipment is holding students back. This project will provide Pace High Band students with access to new, reliable marching band instruments and equipment, replacing frequently malfunctioning inventory that is diminishing the quality of student performances. IMPACT 100 funds will be used for new instruments to include 18 marching brass and 15 percussion instruments along with carriers, cases and accessories; 10 Color Guard marching uniforms; and 120 deluxe uniform garment bags. A 2025 John Deere Gator Tx-4X2 will be purchased to transport coolers of ice water wherever students are practicing or performing to keep them safe during hot conditions. Parade banners and truck magnets will recognize IMPACT 100’s support at games, practices and when travelling.

EXPECTED IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY

Pace High Band projects that 200 students will be active in its programs for the upcoming season, including returning members and new students arriving from multiple middle schools. This project will increase access to instruments for students who otherwise would not have the financial means, while a new system will track instrument use, repairs, and maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. The impact of this project extends beyond those students performing as families, classmates, teachers and community members experience the creativity of the performing students firsthand. The Indoor Percussion and Winter Guard groups compete at the World Championship level to inspire, uplift and reflect the spirit of the community. With better instruments, students will be empowered to perform at their highest potential, deepening the artistic and learning experience for all involved, extending into the cultural fabric of the community.
