Project Description

Fund a new cargo van to replace the flood ravaged vehicle needed for daily pick-up of supplies and donations. The project will also renovate and expand the 14 year-old showers and laundry facilities, rebuild and expand the Mail Service Center, build a Bike Repair Barn, purchase a commercial ice maker for food and meal service, update and expand client data, inventory control and administrative functions, and upgrade security and surveillance systems for improved staff and client security.

Community Impact

The Alfred Washburn Center served 32,500 people in 2013, many being veterans. Expansion of the facilities will enable AWC to better accomplish their mission of helping the homeless with basic needs first. Once these basic needs are met, dignity and hope are restored to the men and women they serve. As dignity and hope are restored, gradual transitioning back into society and paid employment can occur.
